Science Careers in Search of Women (SCSW)
A Conference Focused on High School Women in Pursuit of a Career in Science and Technology
“The conference is designed to expose students to a variety
of careers in science and engineering and real-life women in those professions. I hope
we inspire many of the students to pursue technical careers. If we broaden the outlook
of even one girl it will be worth it.”

On Thursday, April 10, 2014, Argonne National Laboratory conducted the 27th "Science Careers in Search of Women" Conference. The Conference focuses on exploring opportunities and options for women choosing careers in science and technology.
Women continue to be underrepresented in science and technology. Research shows that girls and young women lose interest in subjects and fields of study leading to scientific and technical careers long before they enter college. The Science Careers in Search of Women Conference was conceived to reach out and engage high school women and encourage them to consider careers in science and technology.
Science Careers in Search of Women 2013 (SCSW 2013)
The Nuclear Engineering
Division is looking forward to
each SCSW edition!
We participate in the career booth expo for the SCSW conference with a booth on careers in nuclear science and technology. Careers in nuclear science and technology touch almost every aspect of our lives, from generation of electricity to nuclear medicine to industrial processes. This booth will describe the various career opportunities available in nuclear science and technology and the types of high school and college courses needed to prepare for such careers. A variety of handouts will be available which discussed these career opportunities. Stay tuned for updates!
DOE EEO/Diversity Award
Science Careers in Search of Women has won a U.S. Department of Energy EEO/Diversity Award for its contribution to Equal Employment Opportunity and Diversity.
