January 25 was “Nuclear Science Day”, where you could find out “What’s
Cool About Nuclear Science and Why Our Country Needs Nuclear Electricity” from Argonne staff
members Mark Peters (Deputy Laboratory Director) and Justin Thomas (principal nuclear engineer).
This day-long live webinar was for high school students and teachers across the country and also
told students about what it’s like to work at a nuclear power plant, what’s happening
in nuclear medicine, and the future of nuclear energy in the U.S. If you missed the live webinar
you still have the chance catch up: the podcasts of their talks and the presentation are
now available to all for download at the NSTA web site.

Nuclear Science Day was part of the National Nuclear Science Week celebration of all aspects of nuclear science, January 23-27, 2012. This annual event is organized by the National Museum of Nuclear Science & History in Albuquerque.
